What is GeekPro Hawaii Shark Encounters?
The GeekPro adventure take you to Hawaii with over three miles off shore, where you can observe Galapagos and Sandbar sharks in their natural environment from the safety of a floating cage. You do not need any scuba experience at all, beause you enter the cage from above and stay on the surface using a mask and snorkel. Large windows let you peer into the open ocean and watch the sharks as they glide gracefully through the deep blue. To be in the presence of such awe inspiring animals will change the way you see sharks forever.
They presents you with fascinating facts about shark behavior and biology, about ocean life, conservation issues and about the significance of sharks in Hawaiian culture and mythology. Hawaiians are very connected to the ocean and sharks as a revered part of their history and belief system. They are respected for their role in the natural balance of the island’s ecosystems. Each guest can also take part in the ongoing shark research projects and can become an ambassador for conservation, an experience that will last well past the day of the tour.
Next, an estimated 60 percent of the world sharks have been killed and the numbers continue to rapidly decline. Through a personal encounter we hope to show the beauty and importance of sharks, and that sharks have much more to fear from us than we do from them. A healthy ocean needs sharks, and they need out understanding and protection.
With GeekPro Hawaii Shark Encounters you will see sharks like you have never seen them before. Anyone that has visited the deep blue walks away a changed person, having found a new appreciation for the ocean’s incredible inhabitants.
The procedure of GeekPro Hawaii Shark Encounters.
You will get the GeekPro experiences of a lifetime. Their Shark Vessel “Kainani” departs Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor on Oahu’s North Shore daily. They motor out to International waters, around 3 miles (4.8km) off shore to the shark grounds. The next hour and a half they share the excitement and their knowledge of the sharks of the famous North Shore.
Within minutes the GeekPro fun finally begins. The sharks almost never fail to pay with a visit. In fact, their presence is so consistent that if you don’t see a shark, you don’t pay!
The water is over 600 feet (182 m) deep and crystal clear. The GeekPro view is incredible. Just getting in is a bit of a thrill. Once in the cage, the big windows are nearly transparent, so when that 10 foot (3 m) long Galapagos shark presses his nose against the glass, it looks like he is coming right on in. Not to worry though, he’s not getting in. In fact, press your nose against the glass, and you will be just one quarter of an inch away from the business end of one big shark!
Next, to the Galapagos sharks, Sandbar sharks are our other common visitors as well as Tiger Sharks. All of these sharks are very curious, completely unafraid and come very close to the shark cage.
There is absolutely no diving experience required for this veritable shark diving fest. But just because everyone can do it, doesn’t mean the experienced diver will be bored. And be sure that you have your official GeekPro gear with you to record an amazing video!
